Hi all, Jeff D. here, saw FBS at Connections and just now got around to downloading and playing it. After reading through the manual and rules documents, there are a few things in there I don't understand. - What does CL represent and how do I find out what my units' CL is? I assume it has something to do with sensors since it mainly affects detection ranges.
- What causes Friction to increase, and what role does high Friction have in the game? I can see it increase as I play through scenarios, but I don't understand how to manage it and what it's doing to my units.
And a couple observations from a UI perspective: - Risk Levels 1, 2, and 3 don't really provide me with any information about what each level means. Naming them more like the air interception postures would make them much easier to understand.
- Similarly, Limited and Unrestricted emissions might be clearer as "Radar only" or "Radar and Sonar."
I realize that having a super-friendly UI might be less important to this project than the commercial games I've worked on in the past, but I still think it's worth some attention and tweaking to get right. Even if we don't reach all the way to the level of "fun," we should probably still strive to fall short of "painful" in the user experience department. :-) Great game, I look forward to playing the rest of the scenarios and giving feedback.
